I found out this morning that one of my former students was murdered at USF’s campus<\/a> late one night this week. Ronald Stem was a student in my masters-level history of education class a few years ago. Fundamentally a nice guy, he was a Vietnam veteran who loved history and was hoping to become a teacher. He left USF without finishing his studies, and this is just horrible news. For a large campus with 43,000 students, in many ways we’re lucky that his death is the first on-campus murder since 1994, but it’s still awful, and I hope the campus police and county homicide investigators find his killers quickly.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
