{"id":801,"date":"2006-12-10T09:00:29","date_gmt":"2006-12-10T13:00:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/shermandorn.com\/wordpress\/?p=801"},"modified":"2006-12-10T09:00:29","modified_gmt":"2006-12-10T13:00:29","slug":"why-shermans-not-blogging-today-excuse-note","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/shermandorn.com\/?p=801","title":{"rendered":"Why Sherman&#8217;s not blogging today (excuse note)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Apologies to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mudcat.org\/@displaysong.cfm?SongID=7866\">Pat Cooksey<\/a><br \/>\nDear Readers I will plead with you, don&#8217;t have a fit of pique.<br \/>\nThis blog will start up once again for you to read next week.<br \/>\nMy mind is all quite bloodied, and my thoughts a formless mess.<br \/>\nI write this entry &#8217;cause our blogs are here for to confess.<br \/>\nI wish that I could tell you of what befell my work.<br \/>\nBut I can&#8217;t claim bricks or buckets fell, to excuse a day of shirk.<br \/>\nI have a spouse, a preteen son, and a teenage lass.<br \/>\nAnd I have to keep up with a <a href=\"http:\/\/epaa.asu.edu\">journal<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.shermandorn.com\/mt\/archives\/cat_accountability_frankenstein.html\">book<\/a>, and class.<br \/>\nWhile grading in my office, exams I have to read.<br \/>\nAnd while I work with students, there&#8217;s silence on the <a href=\"http:\/\/feeds.feedburner.com\/ShermanDorn\">feed<\/a>.<br \/>\nI thought that I would scatter them <a href=\"http:\/\/www.concurringopinions.com\/archives\/2006\/12\/a_guide_to_grad.html\">across the building&#8217;s stairs<\/a>.<br \/>\nBut <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gmu.edu\/depts\/psychology\/homepage\/syllabi\/syllfall03\/892001.doc\">someone<\/a> told me doing that just wasn&#8217;t very fair.<br \/>\nI opened up a file that a student sent to me.<br \/>\nIt had a software virus, and quickly I could see<br \/>\nmy hard drive was evaporating, useless to me now.<br \/>\nI had to get the data back; I didn&#8217;t know quite how.<br \/>\nI walked up to the library, which had computer folk.<br \/>\nI told them what had happened, and they said it was a joke.<br \/>\nThey told me not to write this song, they told me I was haughty.<br \/>\nSo I went around the corner to get a decaf latt\u00e9.<br \/>\nSo, in other words, the reason why I&#8217;m not blogging daily this week is &#8230; Starbucks!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Apologies to Pat Cooksey Dear Readers I will plead with you, don&#8217;t have a fit of pique.
